Connor’s 1st haircut!

It was finally time for Connor’s 1st haircut. While he didn’t have as much hair as his brother when he got his, it was getting long in certain spots.

He was not happy about this AT ALL!

But in the end….he turned out very handsome!

Easter Egg Coloring

20110425-085902.jpg

This was the first year of Easter Egg coloring that both kids could participate in. I only did a dozen eggs since I wasn’t sure how much interest Connor would have. I did the traditional egg food coloring and looked up some creative colors on McCormicks website. Caden could do the coloring on his own with no help for me. Connor loved putting the eggs in, but wasn’t vey careful about it. So, we only had 1 casualty egg which is pretty good. I think we’ll have to do more than a dozen next year.

Seeing the Easter Bunny

We went to see the Easter Bunny this year. Connor was not happy….Caden was excited. After the picture they each got a free book from him! Happy Easter everyone!

No more ear infections! (hopefully…)

Today was a big day for Connor. After many ear infections over the fall and winter, we decided it would be best for Connor to get ear tubes. Cade had them when he was Connor’s age and it made such a difference that we really didn’t think twice about Connor getting them when they told us he needed them.

We had to arrive at the hospital at 6:30 so that meant a 4:45 wake up call for me and in the car by 5:30. He had to have nothing to eat or drink after midnight, so I was a little nervous about how he would handle the morning without having anything. He did great until we got to the waiting room where he kept looking at me and saying “Wa Wa. Yeah.” with a yes head shake in order to convenience me to give him his sippy cup. I played it off as if I didn’t know where his cup was. He continued to do great until a few minutes before surgery when he found his lunchbox in the stroll. Luckily he couldn’t get it out and the nurse came to get him before he discovered my secret hiding space for the sippy.

The tubes went well. Part of me was a teensy bit nervous since it’s anesthesia, but I knew he was in good hands and he would be just fine…and he was. He came home and napped for 2 hours. He had lunch and we did a couple of errands then he napped for another hour and a half! Needless to say he was tired. However despite all that sleeping, he was back to his normal, happy self by mid-day.

Hat day!

It was hat day at school.  Caden wore a Diamondback hat and Connor wore a Marquette hat.

No more helmet!

Connor finished his treatment with his cranial band this week!  We were a little concerned that he might have needed a 2nd helmet, but the technician was happy with the progress that he made.

It’s so nice being able to cuddle and hug him and not his helmet.  It doesn’t seem like he realizes it’s off either.  So, everyone’s happy!

Connor’s helmet

Connor was diagnosed with plagiocephaly (flat head) which started while he was still in-utero. Despite all our efforts to keep pressure off of his head, the flatness persisted. So, we were referred for him to get a cranial band (aka helmet). He has to wear the helmet 23 hours per day for an undetermined amount of time. Typically, kids will spend between 8-12 weeks in their band. Only time will tell how long Connor will need his.

He adjusted pretty easily to having it on his head contantly. In fact, he barely even noticed it was on except when we took it on and off. We were a little worried that it would really make it difficult for him to sleep, but his sleep pattern never changed!

When we got his band, it was a boring plain white band. It’s customary that parents decorate their child’s helmet. So, Mike headed over to Michaels and found some great Disney stickers to decorate his with. Soon, with Mike’s creativity skills, his helmet was transformed into a fun, kid-like helmet!

Holding my own bottle!

Connor mastered holding his own bottle over the weekend!  This is a huge milestone for him.  This also means that we have a few more minutes in a day to get stuff done!  Yay Connor!

Yummy Peas!

Connor tried his first real baby food…..peas!  He loved them!   At first he wasn’t sure of them, but by the end he was opening his mouth asking for more!

We’ll be trying a new food every few days.  Next up….green beans.
